Falling into established habits ...... must be the effect of advancing years .... Nah - just had a good time last year so did it again!
JUNE 2007 Well we can’t just do the same thing again ..... “but we know the pubs, we know the water, where the shops are ..... “. Well all right we’ll go to the same place ..... but why don’t we get a couple of BIG boats?
And so was formed the plan for the 2007 trip. One Jade class 25ft and one Japonica class 30ft broads yachts (check http://www.marthamboats.com for info). All personnel made immediate and strenuous efforts to come up with excuses not to be in charge (oh the pressures of command) - and even more strenuous efforts to ensure the drinks lockers were topped up.
... and there we were off again!
JUNE 2006 Somehow shrouded in a veil of “eh can’t remember”. Much like life before children - I know it was there, but the details escape me. Still there are some photos in the album section - so we were there and probably survived.
JUNE 2005 Martham Norfolk Broads - on the River Thurne.
Additional personal this year - Anoop Kotecha having joined the party.
Mix as before “Bridge” sporting some extra canvass aloft - “Matilda” with optional Mirror rig, the Otter unchanged apart from the addition of some rather fetching pink fibre glassing to cure a bit of a leak discovered day one (“aaargh” I’m going to drown), and a basic but highly effective Lugsail rig for the dinghy rented with the Houseboat.
True to form the Houseboat and moorings looked a bit like a boatyard within hours of the gang arriving, though apart from emergency Glass fibre repairs - significantly less ‘buggling and bartling’ on the boats than last year.
Familiar sailing Thurne, Candle Dyke, Hicking Broad etc. I’m sure more detail will follow - with an absolute stormer of a sail down the the “Pleasure Boat” at Hickling. “No there must be some mistake - we can’t be there already!”
